How long have I been playing the guitar?
|
|
I have been playing the guitar for around 35 years. I play electric guitar, steel string acoustic guitar, 12 string guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, mandola, and keyboards, and I sing a bit too.

What “Live” playing experience do I have?
|
|
I play in "Chalice", a well known progressive rock band in the Essex area, “Time Will Tell”, a christian progressive rock band, and “Exchange”, a function band. I also play in shows, and over the last few years I've played in “Fame”, “High School Musical”, “The Little Shop of Horrors”, “Grease”, “Honk”, "Hairspray", "Bugsy Malone", "Rent", “Saints Alive”, “The Glory of Christmas”, “Snakes and Ladders” and "The Alternative". Also, I play in a local church on Sundays most weekends.

What are my musical influences?

My main musical influences are progressive rock bands such as Yes and Genesis, along with other modern progressive bands such as The Flower Kings and Iona.

What’s my teaching experience?
|
|
I began teaching the guitar part time in July 1995, becoming "full time" in October 2002, and now on an average school week I teach guitar to over 90 students. The styles I teach include electric, classical, and bass guitar all to advanced level, as well as most other styles. I teach music theory and sight reading. I work for Thurrock Music Services and Southend Music Services and I teach in schools in these areas.

What qualifications do I have to teach guitar?

|
I have achieved a DipLCM in Electric Guitar Performance "Approved upper level", Electric Guitar Grade 8, Classical Guitar Grade 6, and Music Theory Grade 5. I have a wealth of experience in many different styles, and I pass this on to my students, many of whom now play in bands, school classes and assemblies, and in church worship bands. I have achieved a good level of general education, with a BSc Hons degree in Computing. I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors. I have an up to date CRB check.

What CDs and recordings have I released?
|
In the summer of 2009 I released a single, “Give Thanks” (a prog/worship song) to New Christian Music, which received airplay on over 310 radio stations and reached no. 8 in the NCM UK chart (this song is from the forthcoming prog/worship album “Progressive Pilgrim”).
Also in the summer of 2009 I played guitar on an EP by Neil Henson called “Live For You”.
In December 2006 I released "The Moment", my first solo CD, a concept album about important moments in my life. Its style is progressive/experimental rock.
I have also played on the following releases by Time Will Tell: "Pushed For Time", "There Is", "Early Days", and "Visionography".
